LADU ARAI PINANG

LADU ARAI PINANG

Ladu is a crispy chip made in Pariaman from a rice powder mixture and the stalks of the areca nut or 'Arai Pinang' as it's called locally. Making this food is a common livelihood for families in the villages of Lohong, Kampung Perak, Kampung Pondok and Padusunan for example. Ladu is usually served as a snack during Eid (also known as Lebaran or Idul Fitri), a major national holiday in Indonesia that celebrates the end of the fasting ritual undertakings by Muslims. Today it can be bought in any shops so keep your eyes out!
